How We Started
In 1938, our story began with Jiffy Air Tool & Deutsch, crafting aerospace parts and connectors that laid the foundation for what would become a legacy in pneumatic tools. The turning point came when Bob Irving, the visionary owner of A-1 Rentals in Los Angeles, stumbled upon two train cars packed with pneumatic tools and parts. Seeing an incredible opportunity, he not only acquired them but also brought Jiffy Air Tools into his fold. That decision marked the birth of the APT brand and set us on a path to becoming a leader in the industry.
We didn’t stop there. APT quickly grew, opening a major facility in Gardena, California, and making a name for ourselves in the construction and aerospace industries. Over the years, we evolved through pivotal moments—our acquisition by Monogram in 1970, Nortek Industries in 1982, and leadership under Alex Deutsch and Ferro Management. Each step strengthened our focus on construction and helped us expand internationally.
By 2013, when APT became part of the Atlas Copco family, we had built a reputation for delivering high-quality pneumatic tools with unmatched efficiency. Today, we’re proud to call East Anaheim, California, home, where we continue to grow and build on our legacy of innovation, offering tools customers trust and delivering most products within 24 hours.
